Asean Economic Integration

Asean Economic Integration
“Review Tourism Sector”

Welcome to your dream destination. There are some thing in life
That can only exist in a dream or so we think. For how many times we had  visions of paradise
Gone to far away palces to search of it.Any to realize that even before
We begin to take it all in, We’ve lost it..

The lines of promotions word welcome us in the Asean tourism’s website. This website includes of ASEAN’s countries tourism’s destination. The logo ASEAN as perpect paradise also sparkling as symbol of integration of ASEAN economic which bring synergic market into Asean communities traveler.
We Believe it or not ASEAN is promising market . we can imagine  the data show us at  2006, the ASEAN region has a population of about 560 million, a total area of 4.5 million square kilometers, a combined gross domestic product of almost US$ 1,100 billion, and a total trade of about US$ 1,400 billion. ASEAN's average economic growth rate was as high as 5.5 percent for the period 1980 to 1990, much higher than the world export growth of 10.8 percent.
In Promoting ASEAN as a single tourism destination product with world class attractions, standards and facilities, investment policy,  cultural preservation as a part of  sustainable ASEAN cooperation in achieving economic integration  that finally give benefit to all countries. In other side the Tourism Ministers  also has organized the formal meetings in January 2010, to pave the way for developing coordinated and concrete strategies for tourism development and cooperation in ASEAN. The formation of the ASEAN Crises Team for Tourism (ACTT) has been also launched by the ASEAN National Tourism Organizations (NTOs).
The impact of this cooperation as a single market not only for Asean’s people and community but also targeting into East Asian countries which is listed as the biggest  visitor such China, Japan, Korea. These countries as important source market for ASEAN Member States, with more than 15 million arrivals or 23.3 per cent of total international tourist arrivals in ASEAN in 2010.
The ASEAN tourism performance in 2010 showed strong progress, But if we flash back the process of integration of tourism ASEAN actually get long journey  to implemented, Because it has been plan before at twelve years ago at 1998 that mentioned all the action plan that follow by all asean countries in making the strategy in inviting the tourist to visit.
We realize the competition among Asean countries always there , Actually did Indonesia is strong enough in getting the tourism market?  based on the  preliminary data from the Coordinating Ministry Indonesia still left far behind its smaller neighbors in terms of tourist numbers. Malaysia welcomed 15.38 million foreign tourists during the first eight months of 2009 alone, while Singapore saw 4.51 million tourist arrivals in the first half the year. Meanwhile Indonesia got of 6.45 million foreign nationals visited the country in 2009, an actually it was increase of 0.8 percent from 2008, according to preliminary data from the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy. However, total spending dropped 15 percent to $995.9 million, while the average length of stay fell  also to 7.69 days from 8.58 days.
In Comparing  the tourist arrival among Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore above, actually there is a big gap through them. The progress of Asean tourism integration market actually should benefited to all countries with balance distribution  income but it is not in reality. So regarding into one of agreement in action tourism Plan 1998  as” Facilitation measures” the steps that could be considered have to do with institutional “ infrastructure” developments which would facilitate steps towards the integration of the Asean economies in less dramatic but crucial ways. These meaning in creating the institutional developments in The Asean in creating the information about tourism such people, bureaucratic and elitist  that down to earth as visioning  economic community 2015. The integration of economic suppose get into people to people contact and familiarity of Asean tourism. For example Indonesia as torism object keep complain to their neighbor country about such culture claim as “ Batik, Pendet dance and traditional song "rasa sayange" as our original asset of our own culture. Meanwhile Malaysia is keep move on with their strategic market  with “ the truly Asia” as their promoting market tools. All the dispute will bring into dispute settlement system for win – win solution. So Indonesia could be move on with Visit Indonesia Year and Vote Komodo for promoting as new seven wonder.
In getting the progress of integrated of tourist as plan  to boost tourism in ASEAN Action ASEAN  Tourism as a strategic plan 2011 – 2015 currently being developed will provide a framework for the   the region to address the opportunities and challenges facing ASEAN tourism in the coming years. It will be developed according to a series of guiding principles including sustainable development, extensive stakeholder involvement and cooperation with ASEAN's dialogue partners.
Related to the Plan itself which  identify key principles of ASEAN tourism integration towards the establishment of ASEAN Community in 2015 as the Roadmap for Integration of the Tourism Sector which will expire this year.  it hopes it will be support the development of a new ASEAN tourism marketing strategy with the tagline of “Southeast Asia: Feel the Warmth”, which will be a co-brand with the existing ASEAN marketing campaign. Meanwhile new tourism marketing strategy will utilized a dynamic and interactive website (www.SoutheastAsia.org) as the main marketing platform highlighting multi-destination travel within ASEAN Member States. It will also showcase small and medium-sized enterprises’ tourism services to a wider audience.
In other case,  ASEAN countries have been eagerly promoting tourism though their main economic growth has been a consequence of an export-oriented economy but the tourism industry has also been deemed a major contributing factor. The rapid growth of tourism led to a growth of household incomes and government revenues directly and indirectly by means of multiplier effects, improving balance of payments and provoking tourism-promoted government policies. As a result, the development of tourism has usually been considered a positive contribution to economic growth.
But Asean  still have the challenge is the implementation of the Roadmap plan into the implementation Tourism, like any other force for economic integration, Generally, we still found the  gap of tourism infrastructure that also affects the demand for certain goods and services (Syriopoulos, 1995), including transportation facilities, such as roads and airports (Eugenio-Martín & Morales, 2004), much of which is specific to tourism as opposed to a more general use. Apart from this, tourism expenditure by foreign tourists can enhance domestic tourism construction as well as bring about an accumulation of physical capital, and the needs for skilled labor in the tourism sectors will cause human capital investment to increase. Thus, the tourism sector may contribute significantly to economic growth for each ASEAN countries.
According to Severeno the big challenge and big question is come into ,What better way is there to build an ASEAN community that is open to all than to strengthen the tourism industry? After all, tourism is all about contact among people; in ASEAN's case, contact among the peoples of ASEAN themselves and between them and people from around the world.
I think the answer is very simple it goes to sense belonging of ASEAN community of people to people contact first as the first line that it will extended into around the world, because the growth of tourism in ASEAN Country will increase as asean community exist and believe about “ we feeling” that we are a part of ASEAN identity that has same vision and mission in getting the economic integrity touch tourism sector that need to develop as we realize that it was big industry for incredible tourism object with in. We know about our own “ tourism beauty” but we see outward such Europe, US, Africa as the most country to visit.
Severeno also mentioned  how the effect of extensively and rapidly the benefits of tourism spread not only within the industry itself but also to many other sectors of the economy such light industry, construction, transportation, communications, all kinds of services. Tourism is particularly good in creating many jobs both within itself and in other sectors on which it has an impact. If we are careful, the tourism industry can be a blessing for the environment, as, more and more, the long-term profitability of  the industry depends on the conservation of the environment.
It means the challenge and strength of ASEAN is counted and tried to finding the way of how economic integration in tourism sector  achieve the growth of economic and give prosperity and welfare to all Asean countries and get the sustainability on it. Because the progress and the success of economic integration is not only for amount of number of national income for each countries of ASEAN but also the same commitment in visioning ASEAN Economic Community is a true pillars in bringing all national interest  toward “ great economy” of ASEAN's countries
